Garrett is a Sports Producer for Spectrum News. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State and got his start as a sports photographer. He now produces Sports Night, the state’s only nightly show dedicated to in-depth coverage of all sports in Kentucky. Sports Night airs weeknights at 6:30 and 10:30 on Spectrum News or anytime with Spectrum On Demand. Outside the station, Garrett enjoys golfing, hiking, fishing, and prides himself on being all-in as a sports spectator. He won a gift card for playing an air guitar in the student section during an MTSU basketball game. The University of Louisville basketball team lost eight players to graduation, transfer, and turning professional this offseason. On the other hand, there is a highly rated recruiting class coming in, and Dwayne Sutton is now available after redshirting last season. So the Cards should have a core group of returning playmakers like Quentin Snider and Deng Adel, but it’s the depth that is now the biggest question mark. The University of Louisville is still awaiting the results of its hearing before the NCAA Committee on Infractions, but there has been a conclusion in the other investigation involving alleged criminal activities by Katina Powell and Andre McGee. The Western Kentucky Track and Field team will be well represented at the NCAA East Region Preliminaries this week. 10 student-athletes will go to the competition for a chance to earn a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championship in Eugene, OR in June. In a back and forth game with the no. 7 ranked Clemson Tigers, the no. 2 ranked Louisville baseball team grinded out a win on the road Sunday afternoon, extending the team winning streak to 15 games. NBA COMBINE | Donovan Mitchell combine buzz

Former Louisville guard Donovan Mitchell is just one of 67 young athletes taking part in the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago. Mitchell decided to not participate in the 5-on-5 competitions, but has gone through the measurement portion of the combine, and interviewed with roughly a dozen NBA teams. KENTUCKY DERBY | Living out Lynn Whiting's legacy

Lynn Whiting was a staple of the stables on the backside of Churchill Down. He had over 1,200 wins in his career as a trainer, one of them being the 1992 Kentucky Derby. Whiting passed away in April of this year. This Derby marks the 25th anniversary of when his horse, Lil E. Tee won the garland of roses.
