Louisville’s reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Lamar Jackson continues to rewrite ACC and U of L record books this season. His latest accomplishment is becoming the ACC’s first player to ever win the conference’s football Player of the Year, and Offensive Player of the Year distinctions in consecutive seasons. The no. 19 University of Louisville men’s basketball team improved to 4-0 Friday night, after comfortably beating St. Francis 84-72 in the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals’ size proved to be a huge difference-maker over a much smaller Red Flash squad. All five Louisville starters finished with double-figure scoring. The 2002 KHSAA 4A Football State Championship game is the highest scoring state title game in Kentucky history. Male and Trinity combined for 115 points and more than 1,300 yards of total offense. Trinity came out on top, beating Male 59-56 in front of more than 20,000 fans at Fairgrounds Cardinal Stadium. The No. 9 Louisville women’s basketball team pulled off an upset over the weekend, as the Cards beat No. 5 Ohio St. in Columbus on Sunday, winning 95-90 in overtime. As impressive as the win was, there was also an incredible performance by UofL guard Asia Durr. The no. 16 Louisville men’s basketball team (1-0, 0-0) showed grit in Sunday’s season opening victory over visiting George Mason (1-1, 0-0). Defensive lineman Carlos Dunlap turned out to be the unlikely hero in the Cincinnati Bengals’ narrow win over the Indianapolis Colts. Trailing 23-17, Dunlap intercepted a pass from Colts QB Jacoby Brissett and returned it for a touchdown.
