Garrett is a Sports Producer for Spectrum News. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State and got his start as a sports photographer. He now produces Sports Night, the state’s only nightly show dedicated to in-depth coverage of all sports in Kentucky. Sports Night airs weeknights at 6:30 and 10:30 on Spectrum News or anytime with Spectrum On Demand. Outside the station, Garrett enjoys golfing, hiking, fishing, and prides himself on being all-in as a sports spectator. He won a gift card for playing an air guitar in the student section during an MTSU basketball game. UofL BASKETBALL | Details of David Padgett's 12-month contract

The University of Louisville Athletic Association ratified the employment of David Padgett as acting head men’s basketball coach on Monday. The ULAA also released the details of Padgett’s contract, which could earn him up to $1 million over the next 12 months. Padgett’s base salary from UofL is $400,000, and he will also earn $400,000 in other media, fundraising, and public relations obligations as the head coach. According to a press release from the University of Louisville, associate head men’s basketball coach Kenny Johnson and assistant coach Jordan Fair have been placed on paid administrative leave, effective immediately. “We are in the process of executing our due diligence as it relates to an ongoing investigation and feel that this an appropriate step at this time,” said UofL Acting Director of Athletics Vince Tyra. “Our university will continue to fully cooperate with federal authorities in their investigation.”... Read more

Lamar Jackson was his typical electric self Thursday night in the no. 17 Louisville football team’s 39-25 loss to no. 24 North Carolina State. Jackson put up over 420 yards of offense, three total touchdowns, but it was his one interception thrown in the fourth quarter that sealed Louisville’s second loss in the ACC Atlantic Division. Justin Thomas voted PGA Tour Player of the Year

Goshen native and professional golfer Justin Thomas earned some praise from his peers this week. Fellow PGA members voted Thomas the 2017 PGA Tour Player of the Year. The 24 year Kentuckian won five tournaments, claimed his first major victory in the PGA Championship, captured the FedEx Cup, and was a member of the U.S. team in its recent win over the international squad in the President’s Cup. Attorney Keith Poynter discusses intricacies of Rick Pitino's contract

The University of Louisville board of trustees voted unanimously yesterday to begin the process of terminating Rick Pitino’s contract, citing just cause. The university also announced that Rick Pitino has notified them of what his lawyers perceived to be a material breach of contract. University of Louisville interim president Dr. Greg Postel told reporters on Friday morning that the school intends to name an interim head men’s basketball coach on Friday afternoon. He also added that UofL will not name an interim director of athletics until next week.
