Kentucky freshman center Nick Richards has been named to the preseason watch list for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award, which recognizes the top center in the country. Richards is one of 20 players selected to the watch list. Richards was a five-star prospect in high school. He was Mr. New Jersey Basketball in 2017 and played in the McDonald’s All American Game, the Jordan Brand Classic, Nike Hoop Summit and the Elite 24. Despite all that has happened surrounding the Louisville basketball program recently, the Cardinals are still expected to have a strong 2017-2018 campaign. Louisville ranks No. 16 in the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll that was released Thursday afternoon. They are one of five ACC teams ranked in the poll. Kentucky freshman forward PJ Washington has been named to the preseason watch list for the Karl Malone Award, which is presented to the nation’s best power forward in the country. Washington is one of 21 candidates to make the list. The list of 21 players will be narrowed to 10 in mid-February. UK hosting Morehead State to Raise Funds for Disaster Relief

The Kentucky basketball team will host the Morehead State Eagles in the “Kentucky Cares Classic,” an exhibition that will raise funds for those affected by the hurricanes in Florida and Puerto Rico and wildfires in California.
