Churchill Downs Spokesman John Asher has died. Racetrack officials say Asher suffered a heart attack while on vacation with his family in Florida. He was 62 years old. His death comes just days before Churchill opens for the September meet. Asher was an award-winning radio journalist before joining Churchill in 1997. He also has served as the track’s vice president of racing communications since 1999. Before that he worked at WHAS-AM and WAVE-AM in Louisville and won five Eclipse Awards... Read more 

Federal Judge dismisses Pitino's lawsuit against Adidas

In the suit Former UofL Coach Rick Pitino alleged Adidas knowingly or recklessly caused him emotional distress when the company conspired to bribe UofL basketball recruits. Tuesday U.S. District Court Judge David J. Hale dismissed the lawsuit and said the issue must first be handled in arbitration. The Democratic National Convention Committee announced Thursday afternoon a list of speakers who will address the convention in Philadelphia next week. So far, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes is the only Kentuckian on the list.
