On Tuesday, the NCAA announced that it will uphold its original ruling, vacating wins within the University of Louisville basketball program and ordering the university to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. The decision will result in vacating men’s basketball games between December 2011 through 2014. This includes the 2013 National Championship title and a vacation of the program’s 2012 Final Four appearance. The University of Louisville has confirmed to Spectrum News that Mark Jurich has left the UofL athletics department. Jurich is the son of former Athletic Director Tom Jurich and served as the department’s Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development. Sen. Damon Thayer applauds governor for budget proposal

The General Assembly has been in session for one month, but there still hasn’t been a pension reform bill filed. Spectrum News’ Don Weber caught up with Senator Damon Thayer to discuss the pension reform bill and how it will affect the budget. Governor Matt Bevin promised to contribute $3.3 billion toward the pension fund in his budget proposal. The University of Louisville football program has announced that Defensive Coordinator Peter Sirmon has resigned, effective immediately. In a press release, Head Coach Bobby Petrino said: “I would like to thank Peter Sirmon for all of his work this season at the University of Louisville. UK cheerleaders win 23rd national title

The University of Kentucky cheerleading team earned its 23rd national title on Sunday at the Universal Cheerleaders Association in Orlando. The title is the Cats’ third straight national title. Kentucky won its first national crown in 1985, also winning in 1987-88, 1992, 1995-2002, 2004-06, 2008-10, 2012, 2014 and 2016-18. The cheerleaders and dance team will be honored Saturday during the men’s basketball game vs. Florida.  Read more

Grimes responds to disbandment of Trump's voter fraud commission

Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes says voter rights are under attack in response to an announcement from the White House that President Donald Trump is dissolving the Presidential Commission on Election Integrity. Trump created the commission early last year to investigate his allegations of voter fraud during the 2016 presidential election. He claimed that three to five million people voted illegally.
