University of Kentucky senior linebacker Courtney Love has been named the winner of the 2017 Wuerffel Trophy. The award honors college football players who best combine exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement. Love leads the team in community service hours. Adidas has filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed against the apparel company by former UofL men’s basketball head coach Rick Pitino. The company claims the suit is without merit, per a criminal complaint which indicates that Pitino was, in fact, aware of a pay-to-play scandal involving UofL basketball recruits. Former Canisius head coach named Louisville Women's Lacrosse Head Coach

The University of Louisville announced on Monday that former Canisius head coach Scott Teeter is the Cardinals’ new Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach. Teeter served as head coach at Canisius for 16 years. During that time, he led the school to six conference titles and six trips to the NCAA Tournament. He replaces UofL’s former women’s lacrosse head coach Kellie Young , who was removed from her duties two weeks ago. Louisville runner makes history at NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships

For the first time in school history, a University of Louisville women’s cross country runner has earned the program’s first-ever individual All-American honor. Sophomore Dorcas Wasike received the recognition on Saturday at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park. Kentucky Football lost at No. 7 Georgia Saturday, 42-13. Benny Snell, Jr. rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Stephen Johnson was 12 of 22 through the air for 138 yards, including a 45-yard connection with Blake Bone. The Wildcats will close the regular season next Sat., Nov. 25 when they take on the Louisville Cardinals at home in the annual Governor’s Cup showdown. Kickoff is set for noon ET. Read more 

Valhalla Golf Club to host 2024 PGA Championship

The PGA has announced that Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville will host the 2024 PGA Championship. Also announced on Thursday, Valhalla will host the Boys Junior PGA Championship in 2018 three weeks after the Girls Junior PGA Championship at Kearney Hill Links in Lexington. Mike Thomas, a PGA pro and the father of Louisville native and PGA champion Justin Thomas , was in attendance with the Wanamaker Trophy. Louisville Sports Commission kicks off Playing it Forward initiative

The Louisville Sports Commission’s Playing it Forward initiative kicks off during two special events on Saturday. The initiative was created to provide new and gently-used sporting equipment to low- and moderate-income children. The goal is to eliminate the cost of equipment and therefore the cost barrier to participating in organized sports. Kentucky Derby Museum announces $6.5 million expansion

The Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville has announced plans for a $6.5 million expansion. The project will be the museum’s largest expansion since 1985 when it was constructed. The plan will add 11,000 square feet of new space and a renovation of 5,000 square feet in existing space. Additions and renovations will include a new stable on the ground floor for the museum’s resident thoroughbred and miniature horse; seating for educational programming; rental space; expanded exhibit space on the museum’s second floor... Read more
