Hour of Code strengthens future Kentucky workforce

Anderson, Bowling Green Independent and Clay County High Schools were each announced on Thursday as recipients of a $3,000 Computer Science Education Incentive Award from Advance Kentucky and Charter Communications. State Senate President Robert Stivers returned to his hometown in Manchester to present the award. Stivers says it’s important to teach students about coding and other forms of technology, so they are prepared to compete in the global workforce.  Read more

U.S. fugitive Eric Conn captured in Honduras, returns to Lexington in FBI custody

The infamous Eastern Kentucky disability lawyer who police say defrauded the government of millions is back in custody. Eric Conn arrived at Bluegrass Airport on Tuesday evening after evading law enforcement for months. He was captured and arrested outside a Pizza Hut in Honduras on Saturday. Conn fled custody in June after pleading guilty to theft of government property and payment of illegal gratuities. University of Louisville removed from probation, maintains full accreditation

The University of Louisville announced on Tuesday that it has been removed from accreditation probation, per the university’s accreditation agency. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCC) notified UofL of its decision one year after it initially placed the school on probation. The agency ruled the university has adequately addressed nine concerns in areas of governance, administration and finance. University of Kentucky senior linebacker Courtney Love has been named the winner of the 2017 Wuerffel Trophy. The award honors college football players who best combine exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement. Love leads the team in community service hours. Adidas has filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed against the apparel company by former UofL men’s basketball head coach Rick Pitino. The company claims the suit is without merit, per a criminal complaint which indicates that Pitino was, in fact, aware of a pay-to-play scandal involving UofL basketball recruits. Former Canisius head coach named Louisville Women's Lacrosse Head Coach

The University of Louisville announced on Monday that former Canisius head coach Scott Teeter is the Cardinals’ new Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach. Teeter served as head coach at Canisius for 16 years. During that time, he led the school to six conference titles and six trips to the NCAA Tournament. Louisville runner makes history at NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships

For the first time in school history, a University of Louisville women’s cross country runner has earned the program’s first-ever individual All-American honor. Sophomore Dorcas Wasike received the recognition on Saturday at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park.
