Players from two Kentucky universities are named on the 2017 Manning Award preseason watch list. Western Kentucky quarterback Mike White and University of Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson are among the award’s initial 30 candidates. Smith earned the title during the World Outdoor 3D Championships in Seven Springs, Pennsylvania over the weekend. The University of Louisville has announced new security measures for the upcoming 2017-18 football season at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. The additions include magnetic wanding at all entry gates, as well as restricting the size and type of bag that will be allowed inside the stadium. Unopened bottles of water are no longer allowed. FC Cincinnati announced on Wednesday that tickets to the U.S. Open Cup semifinal match against the New York Red Bulls has sold out. The club’s ticketing system went down shortly after opening ticket sales to the public on Tuesday. Three Western Kentucky University football players have been suspended for the program’s season opener against Eastern Kentucky University on September 2. The school announced on Tuesday that sophomore running back Quinton Baker, redshirt freshman wide receiver Xavier Lane and redshirt freshman linebacker Tyler Obee will be held out of the game.
