Andrew Chernoff

Andrew is a sports anchor and sports managing editor for Spectrum News. He covers sports all across the state of Kentucky for Sports Night, which airs weeknights at 6:30 and 10:30 on Spectrum News and anytime with Spectrum On Demand. Andrew was a sports anchor and reporter at KFDM/KBTV in Beaumont, Texas for four years before making the move back home to the Midwest. He is originally from Carmel, Indiana and majored in broadcast journalism and political science at Syracuse University.

When he’s not on the air or in the field covering sports, you can likely find Andrew playing golf, watching IndyCar and Formula 1 races, or exploring the state of Kentucky. His favorite sport is open-wheel racing. In fact, he has not missed an Indianapolis 500 since the early 2000s.

Tuesday night’s rivalry match between the Louisville and Kentucky men’s soccer teams lived up to the hype. In fact, regulation and two overtime periods were not enough time to determine a winner, as #8 Louisville (3-0-1) and #19 Kentucky (3-0-1) battled to a 2-2 draw in front of nearly 3,000 fans inside Lynn Stadium. UK FOOTBALL | Baker Out for "Significant Time"

UK senior wide receiver Dorian Baker suffered a fracture-dislocation in his left ankle during Saturday’s scrimmage. As a result, head coach Mark Stoops has announced that Baker will miss significant time, and possibly the entire 2017 season. “We’re very disappointed for Dorian, as he had a good offseason and was helping lead our receivers during preseason camp,” said Stoops. “However, we are hopeful for a full recovery and look forward to his eventual return to the field.” Baker has started in... Read more 

UK BASKETBALL | Wildcats Lead Country in Average Home Attendance... Again

Big Blue Nation has proven once again it is arguably the best fan base in college basketball. The Kentucky men’s basketball team had the highest average home attendance during the 2016-2017 season. UK averaged 23,461 fans per home game, according to figures released by the NCAA on Tuesday. Syracuse was second on the list, averaging 21,181 fans per home game, while Louisville was third on the list, averaging 20,846 fans per home game. Team USA Earns Bronze Medal

The Team USA U19 basketball team bounced back on Sunday, wrapping up its play in the FIBA U19 World Cup in dominating fashion. After falling to Canada on Saturday, John Calipari’s squad earned the bronze medal Sunday, taking care of Spain 96-72 in the third place game. UK BASEBALL | Cats' Magical Season Comes to an End

The Louisville Cardinals jumped out to another quick lead against the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday afternoon and never looked back. The Cards (52-10) beat the Wildcats (43-23) for the second straight day to advance to the College World Series. The final score Saturday was 6-2. The Cards scored the first two runs of the game. The NCAA Baseball Tournament Super Regional schedules were revealed Tuesday morning. Two weeks ago, the Wildcats came up short against their biggest rival. That script was flipped on Tuesday night. The #10 Kentucky baseball team held on to a 11-7 win over #2 Louisville in Lexington. With the victory, the Wildcats (26-12, 10-5) snap a six-game losing streak to the Cardinals (31-5, 15-3). In a back-and-forth game that got heated at times, the #6 Kentucky Wildcats defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks 97 to 71 Saturday night. It is Kentucky’s (13-2, 2-0) third straight victory.
